With Apple having released the new iPad, millions of people who bought the iPad 2 are now wondering whether they should upgrade their devices. As with any other upgrade, the question comes down to whether the difference a person will pay to upgrade to a new iPad is worth the new features they get. If you’re an iPad 2 owner, it all boils down to whether you feel like you need the new display, upgraded camera and other features found in the iPad.

The biggest difference that you’ll see between the new iPad and the iPad 2 is the display. While the iPad 2 packed an impressive-on-its-own screen resolution of 1024×768, the new iPad doubles this to 2048×1536. Combine this with the fact that the newer iPad features a Retina-quality display, and the new iPad’s display blows the iPad 2′s out of the water.

Aside from the Retina display, the new iPad also features a 5-megapixel camera capable of 1080p video recording with tons of enhancements and an upgraded dual-core processor with a quad-core GPU. By comparison, the iPad 2 has a 720p-capable camera and a dual-core processor. If you own a 3G-capable iPad 2 and live in a market with 4G LTE, then this alone might be enough of a reason to upgrade to the new iPad. With speeds up to ten times faster than 3G, 4G on the new iPad means a much faster and more pleasant user experience.

Most of the enhancements are under the hood, though. If you own an iPad 2 and aesthetics are one of the more important qualities to you, then upgrading might not be worth it. For the most part, the form factor and size of the new iPad are the same as the iPad 2. In fact, the new iPad is slightly thicker and heavier than the iPad 2, although it’s unlikely that you would notice.

What will ultimately keep a lot of you iPad 2 owners from upgrading is the cost. The new iPad starts at $499 for the most basic Wi-Fi model. With the iPad 2′s price being slashed to $399, you’ll likely get around $300 on eBay or Craigslist for a basic Wi-Fi model of the iPad 2. That means you’ll pay around $200 to upgrade to the new iPad. It’s certainly not the worst deal in the world.

If money is no object, then the new iPad is easily worth upgrading to. Its Retina Display and improved specs make it a worthy successor to the bestselling tablet of all time. However, if you’re content with your iPad 2′s display and don’t feel a need for 4G speeds, then your new iPad 2 should have plenty of miles left on it.

The new iPad 3 comes automatically furnished with Apple’s most recent operating system upgrade, iOS 5.1. In addition to fixing some key bugs and other issues that were identified across Apple’s various products (including improved battery life and strengthened Wi-Fi signal strength), iOS 5.1 offers a variety of new and improved features for the newly released iPad.

The new iPad 3 Camera App

One of the first things users will notice about the iPad 3‘s upgraded operating system is the improved camera app. Newly redesigned, the app is sure to allow consumers to make the best of the impressive 5 megapixel camera and the vastly improved retina display that the iPad 3 offers.

Along the same lines, iOS 5.1 has also changed the way face detection works when you take pictures using the iPad. Whereas before the camera app was only able to highlight one face per picture, the new OS allows for the possibility of detecing all faces in the photo. These developments aim to allow new iPad users to use the device much more efficiently as a camera, and thus distinguish it from other tablets on the market.

iPad 3 Improved Photo Stream

Another significant improvement with iOS 5.1 that the iPad 3 users will notice is the capacity to delete single photos from Photo Stream. The iPad 3 users were previously unable to eliminate just one individual photo from the service, which meant that in order to take advantage of the greatly anticipated Photo Stream, users had to accept the fact that mixed in with their great photos would also be the blurry pictures, the unusable ones or simply the images that you just didn’t want to share with the world; users were stuck with the previous 1,000 images they had snapped regardless of their quality.

With the iPad 3 updated operating system, however, Apple users can now select which photos they want to us with Photo Stream and then discard the others, instead of having to reset and delete the entire stream each time.

Click here to start shopping for the new iPad!

The iPad 3 Improved User Experience

There are a host of other updates that are included with the iPad’s iOS 5.1 which are aimed at improving the overall experience for its users. When watching shows and movies on the iPad 3 for example, you will notice that the sound has been optimized to be louder and cleaner.

You can now control payback speed and perform a 30 second rewind on the iPad, and a few tweaks have been made to the way bookmarks open automatically in Safari. Finally, iPad users who have a non-Wi Fi device will now be able to download up to 50 megabytes when they are connected to 3G, instead of the previous limit of 20 megabytes.

With the release of the new iPad 2 also comes the release of a number of accessories, notably the iPad 2 Smart Cover, designed and sold by Apple.

This case retails at $39 for the polyurethane version, or $69 for a leather version to give the iPad that professional touch. The former comes in pink, orange, green, blue and gray, and the latter is available in beige, black, gray and red.

The iPad 2 Smart Cover boasts a lot more features than a simple iPad case, but is it really worth the money?

iPad 2 Smart Cover Pros

Some reviewers are already claiming that the iPad 2 Smart Cover is going to make it difficult for third party case manufacturers to sell as many of their products, due to the fact that the case is just about as small and simple as it can get (bearing in mind all the functionality that it brings).

The major pros of the iPad 2 Smart Cover include:

It’s really stylish and comes in a huge variety of colors,

It’s made by Apple so fits the iPad 2 perfectly,

It puts the iPad to sleep when you apply the case, and turns the iPad on when you remove it,

It can be applied to the front or the back of the device,

It can be folded and used as a stand for watching movies, typing, video calls etc.

It’s so thin that it doesn’t add bulk to the iPad 2.

iPad 2 Smart Cover Cons

The main drawback of the new iPad 2 Smart Cover is that it doesn’t offer any protection to the back of the device. As anyone who has owned an iPad before will tell you, the back of the device is prone to scratches. And, when you place the iPad on any surface, it’s the back that’s going to be left vulnerable.

However, the good news is that you can move the iPad 2 Smart Cover to the back of the device to protect it while you don’t need to cover the screen, but that’s not so useful for the times when both sides will be vulnerable – for example, when traveling with the iPad in your bag. It’s also not going to offer any protection if you drop it, just like many other iPad sleeves.

Owning an iPad is a lot about style as well as functionality, and when you’re spending $500+ on a device, you want to keep it looking as nice as possible. This might not be the case if you leave the back unprotected. This means you’ll either have to find purchase an extra Smart Cover if you need to protect both the front and the back at the same time (an extra $39 cost), or opt for an all round case to protect the whole of the iPad.

There’s also no getting around the fact that the new iPad 2 Smart Cover is expensive, but aren’t all the accessories from Apple? People who buy from Apple are willing to pay more money for something that’s been designed both with style and practicality in mind, and the new cover seems to tick all the boxes.

The iPad 2 Smart Cover is also available on Amazon.

Are you getting a iPad 2 Smart Cover? Or if you already have an iPad 2 Smart Cover, please let us know what you think.

Why buy an iPad 2? Here are 7 good reasons…

With the new version of the iPad now available, many people are quick to ask “why buy an iPad 2?“ Is it really worth buying the new model when there are other tablets on the market, and is it worth for current iPad users to upgrade their device?

Here are 7 good answers to the question “why buy an iPad 2?”

1) You Love Having The Latest Greatest Thing

Not everyone will admit it, but there are millions of people out there who queue up at the Apple Store on release date simply because they love to have the latest greatest thing before everybody else. Even if you haven’t gone to that extreme, the iPad 2 is still a “must-have” gadget! You’d be missing out if you didn’t get your hands on one.

2) The iPad 2 Won’t Cost Any Extra

Apple has decided to price the iPad 2 at the same price as the original model, which means you’re not going to have to pay any more money for getting a sleeker design with front and back cameras, faster operating system and more…

3) You Already Use iTunes or Have An iPhone

There’s no denying that there are plenty of rival tablets out there to choose from, but if you already use other Apple devices, and software like iTunes, then you’ll find that it makes a lot more sense to stick with the iPad 2. What’s more, if you already have apps for your iPhone or iPod Touch, you can find many of the same apps adapted and available for the iPad 2.

4) You Need A Camera

If you already have the original iPad but find that you need a camera (whether for video calling, taking photographs, shooting movies and so on) then the iPad 2 is definitely the solution for you. The new camera on the front and back of the device is its main new feature. If you held off buying the iPad because it didn’t have a camera, or you miss the camera functionality on the original device, then the iPad 2 is the answer for you.

5) You Want A Large Choice of Apps

Although there are a number of other tablets on the market, pretty much none of them have as many app choices as the iPad. There are hundreds of thousands of iPad apps available in the Apple App store, and more are being developed every single day. This is a huge advantage when it comes to choice, and the new iOS operating system upgrade brings even more potential.

6) You Want A Gyroscope For Better Gaming

Although the word gyroscope might not mean anything to you, what it can bring to the iPad 2 might. The iPad 2 now features an added gyroscope for much more accurate motion censoring. This means that a number of games and apps will become even better!

7) You Don’t Already Have An iPad

The major reason why you would choose to buy the iPad 2 is if you don’t already own an iPad. The success of the original iPad has shown the critics that this really is a useful, stylish, easy to use and worthwhile device that truly has a place on the market.

So why haven’t you got an iPad 2 yet?

What Is An iPad?

What is an iPad? Most of us already know what the iPod, iPhone and iTouch are unless you have lived under a rock or in a cave for the last few years. Apple Corporation has really been focusing on tabled computer technology and while doing so, has come up with a tablet size touch screen computer that is fully functional, tablet size and has a relatively large screen.

What is an iPad? One of the latest additions to the Apple line up also known as I-pad or I pad this small tablet PC is packed with features. Very thin in design, light and versatile, the screen allows the user a touch usability which eliminates the need for a mouse. Simply sliding the finger across the screen allows you to scroll and tap an item of interest. The colors and screen size makes touching, scrolling and selecting effortless and almost magical.

What is an iPad? The high-resolution screen makes the visual experience alone worth owning one however, the fun doesn’t stop there. Wifi is standard on all versions. The construction of this device kept previous Apple products in mind so your applications will be user friendly. The iPad is the only tablet pc of its kind in the market today that utilizes the technology the iPhone and iTouch users appreciate.

What is an iPad? Surfing the web has no limits and with the iPad you can do it either in Landscape or Portrait view. The onboard onscreen keyboard (they didn’t leave anything out) makes it very easy on the expansive screen for typing notes, responding to emails or simply entering text. The backlit screen allows for viewing in different lighted areas, and can be adjusted as necessary. If you have the need to watch Videos, TV shows, HD movies the size of the screen is that of a net-book, the 9.7″ screen and LED resolution brings your viewing pleasure to life. If you like photos you’ve come to the right device, viewing photos have never been easier, with auto adjust the screen will automatically show the photo in the best viewing mode which is also adjustable.

What is an iPad? Application after Application, the iPad is loaded with many different applications to fit anyone’s lifestyle. This is the biggest reason the iPad has been such a success; we simply love the applications that Apple provides. I mean, there are other tablets on the market but the applications that Apple provides we are simply in-love with. The IPad has redesigned some applications but has kept the basics the same like Safari, Mail and Maps etc. Also included is the new iWork software suit that includes the Pages app, as well as Keynote and Numbers. Most applications not found on the IPad will usually cost $10 an app and you have over 200,000 to choose from with the ease of the online store application.

What is an iPad? Listening to music has never been easier with crisp clear quality sound. Transferring music or downloading from Apple iTunes store has never been easier and the app is conveniently located on your iPad. All games and applications that provide sound will play in crystal clear stereo and sound adjustment is but a touch away.

What is an iPad? The iPad offers performance like no other, with the A4 chip built in you will not have problems running multiple applications at one time like, watching movies, text applications, playing games or surfing the web, you will not slow this unit down. It was built for power and performance. This unit includes but is not limited to a longer battery life (10 hours on a single charge). Different version will offer different storage capacity, but your choices range from 16gb, 32gb and 64gb and it’s all flash storage making saving movies, photos or music a snap. The connectivity is 3G and speeds are normally around 7.2 Mbps, great for anyone on the go or not around a WiFi.

So the question was, “What is an iPad” the answer is, a very sleek, thin, powerful tablet PC that has everything needed to fit in any one’s lifestyle.

iPhone gloves or iPad gloves with iTouch Gloves

Have you heard about these iPhone gloves? Let me tell you how I found them. Since I have been traveling in a very cold place, Wisconsin, and now I am back in the UK, I got to discover it is not easy when you have an iPhone… and here in Stoke-on-Trent, I can really feel the cold on my hands especially since I lost my gloves in the subway last winter in Paris. So I figured it was time to get some new gloves, and that is how I found the iTouch gloves.

If you live somewhere cold, you surely understand how useful these babies can be, since you are probably familiarized with the dilemma of removing your glove and freezing your poor little hand, or waiting to check your iPhone until you are back inside. The new iTouch Gloves are an elegant solution to this common problem. They are aesthetically appealing leather gloves featuring state-of-the-art technology that allows full interaction with our iPhone. Now you can text, tweet or talk while still keeping your hands warm, and in style. Sounds interesting, right?

So how do they work? Are there any conductive dots, wires or tini tiny buttons on the gloves for the iPhone, as other solutions have unsuccessfully offered? Surprisingly, there are not! The iTouch gloves are made with TouchTec, a “patent-pending” technology, invented by CEO Jerry Leto. The leather used to produce these special gloves gets tanned and stretched, and in the meantime, it gets a nanotechnology treatment that allows the glove to act as a conductor as a whole and not only through the fingertips, as one might expect. This makes the gloves look absolutely normal on the outside. Wait, there is more: this technology could be applied to any other textile, not just leather.

Even when these particular designs were created by famous Dorothy Gaspar (the same designer who created Michael Jackson’s favorite pair of gloves, by the way), Leto implied the company would be willing to work with other glove designers who may wish to incorporate this brand new technology to the gloves they produce. Clearly, the same technology that allows gloves to interact with the iPhone, makes them able to work with other touchscreen devices as well. Consumers will find themselves interacting with devices such as HTC Touches, iPads, Nexus Ones and more.

These iPhone gloves come in a variety of styles and sizes, for men and for women. For example, the unisex Elegant & Casual model has black fleece tops and leather palms, with warm wool lining. If you want really stylish iPhone gloves or Ipad gloves, check out the Vented Driving glove, with open knuckles for extra comfort. For each of the models, you can choose the appropriate size, between Small, Medium, Large or X-Large. Currently, all the models come in black, but new colors are on their way. So wether you are looking for some iPhone gloves or iPad gloves, iTouch gloves are just perfect.

Smurf app for iPhone, iPad is accused of encouraging kids (and adults) to go on Smurf spending sprees!

Smurfs, those cute little blue cartoon dwarfs inspired by the trolls in Nordic fairy tales and beloved by kids (and childish adults, you know who you are) since the 1950s, are arguably one of the greatest gifts Belgium ever bestowed on the world.

And when “The Smurf’s Village,” a game for iPhone and other Apple gadgets, came out in November, it promised to sprinkle some of that magic on the world of apps.

This Smurf app shot up the charts, becoming the highest-grossing app in the Apple store. And, get this, it was free.

So why are parents turning red with anger?

Smurfberries. One California mom realized her 4-year-old had spent $66.88 on virtual Smurf stuff in the game on the iPad before she figured it out and stopped him. Fortunately he did not discover the “wheelbarrow” option, which can be purchased with two taps and sets you back a whopping $59.99.

“My biggest concern was them scratching the screen. Never in my wildest dreams did I think they would be charging things on it,” the mom told the Associated Press.

Now, don’t go complaining that we are picking on the Smurfs. The makers of Smurf’s Village have added a warning (“PLEASE NOTE: Smurf Village is free to play, but charges real money for additional in-app content. You may lock out the ability to purchase in-app content by adjusting your device’s settings”) and are considering warnings inside the game. Capcom Entertainment Inc., the publisher of “The Smurf’s Village,” says inadvertent purchases by children are “lamentable.”

And the Smurfs are certainly not alone: Six of the 10 highest-grossing iPhone and iPad games are free but encourage purchases. And we are wagering that the bulk of the Smurfs’ haul comes from “addicted adults” who want to quickly build their villages, adding bakeries and zoos (I mean, who wouldn’t, right?). Right now this Smurf app game is the fourth-highest grossing game in the App store.

‘Nuff said. [Source]

Many games offer in-app content to be purchase but every time I have tried to buy something, it asks me for my iTunes password. Even when something is free, it cannot be downloaded without the input of my password which is great because my son would go on an app shopping sprees! So blaming the Smurf app or any other app for spending sprees is avoiding responsibilities.

Exotic Leather Goods: David August, the Costa Mesa, California-based boutique luxury brand that creates custom wardrobes for the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr. and various billionaire business tycoons, is introducing a new collection of exotic leather goods including the world’s most expensive iPad case. Crafted of the world’s finest alligator skin hand cut and stitched in Italy by a skilled family of artisans, the collection of five luxe pieces is available in both a glazed and matte finish in over 20 different colors. The entire collection is priced at $37,800 with each piece also available individually.

The five pieces include an iPad cover for $6,900, a soft laptop attache case for $12,900, a Dopp kit for $7,800, a watch holder for $7,800, and a change tray for $2,400. All items are made strictly to order with a 2-week delivery time and several personal customizing options are available as well. While far from the most expensive item in the collection, the iPad case is nonetheless the world’s priciest cover for the trendy gadget, costing nearly 14 times as much as Apple’s basic 16GB model. It tops the previous holder of the world’s most expensive title, the $4,900 alligator skin version made by Italian luxury label Tod’s which we previewed last summer.
